Workflows
Workflows let you save and restore your entire dashboard configuration — column selections, graph settings, filters, physics parameters, and more — so you can switch between different analyses with a single click.
Overview
A workflow captures a snapshot of all your current settings. When you load a workflow, the dashboard restores everything exactly as it was: the dataset, column mappings, graph type, physics tuning, filters, and time range. All four analytics tools (Graph, Sankey, Venn, Time Series) regenerate automatically.
Saving workflows requires a Pro license. Loading and deleting saved workflows is available to all users.
Saving a Workflow
- Configure your dashboard exactly how you want it — choose your dataset, set columns, adjust graph settings, apply filters, tune physics, etc.
- Navigate to Settings → Workflows
- Click Save Workflow
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Weekly Sales Analysis" or "Engineering Team Q1")
- Click Save Workflow to confirm
A success message confirms the save. Your workflow now appears in the load list.
What Gets Saved
Workflows capture 50+ settings across the entire dashboard:
| Category | Settings Saved |
|---|---|
| Dataset | Selected dataset |
| Columns | Source, Target, Department, Time, Latitude, Longitude |
| Graph Type | 2D or 3D |
| Edge Settings | Direction (directed/undirected), width mode (activity/trust score), line style (straight/curved) |
| Display | Node labels, background (midnight/map), cluster hulls, background image & opacity |
| Layout | Graph dimension (individual/aggregated/clustered), group-by column |
| Physics | Repulsion, link distance, link strength, gravity, collision radius |
| Filters | Selected source nodes, selected target nodes |
| Time Range | Slider min/max positions, time series aggregation period |
| Navigation | Active analytics tool (graph, sankey, venn, or timeseries) |
Loading a Workflow
- Navigate to Settings → Workflows
- Click Load Workflow
- Browse your saved workflows (sorted newest first)
- Click Load next to the workflow you want to restore
The dashboard restores all settings and automatically regenerates all visualizations. You're taken to the Analytics page with everything configured.
Each workflow shows its creation date, so you can easily identify when it was saved.
Deleting a Workflow
- Navigate to Settings → Workflows
- Click Load Workflow
- Click the X button next to the workflow you want to remove
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog
Deleted workflows cannot be recovered.
Typical Use Cases
- Compare time periods — Save one workflow for Q1 data with specific filters, another for Q2, and switch between them instantly
- Different team views — Save workflows focused on different departments (Engineering, Sales, Marketing) with appropriate filters and color-by settings
- Presentation presets — Save a polished configuration with tuned physics, labels on, and the right graph dimension for presenting to stakeholders
- Analysis templates — Save a base workflow for your recurring weekly or monthly analysis, load it, and update only the time range
Storage
Workflows are stored in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) and persist across sessions. They are tied to your user account.
- Workflows are private — only visible to the account that created them
- Workflows persist until explicitly deleted or the browser database is cleared
- Use the Reset Database button on the Workflows page if you need to clear all stored data for troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Workflow won't load
Make sure the dataset referenced by the workflow is still available. If the dataset was deleted or renamed, the workflow may fail to restore column selections.
Settings look different after loading
Some settings depend on others — for example, the Group By option only appears when using Aggregated or Clustered layout. The workflow restores all settings, but conditional UI elements only show when their prerequisites are met.
Reset Database
If workflows behave unexpectedly, use the Reset Database button on the Workflows settings page. This clears all stored workflows and resets the local database. This action cannot be undone.
